Pierre Chenard has had a distinguished career spanning 40 years, generally combining senior roles in the corporate development, strategy and legal areas. Currently, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Manara Minerals Investment Company, a new joint venture between Saudi Arabian mining company (Ma’aden) and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which focuses on investing in mining assets globally and supporting the development of a resilient global supply chain. Mr. Chenard also continues to serve as a non-executive director on the boards of two Canadian listed companies — Allied Gold Corporation and G Mining Ventures Corp. Before joining Manara Minerals Investment Company, Mr. Chenard served from 2021 to 2023 as Executive Director and Head of Strategy of Allied Gold Corporation, a private gold mining company with gold mining and development assets in Africa, which Mr. Chenard successfully assisted in taking public on the TSX in September 2023. Prior to that, he held the position of Executive Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategy at AngloGold Ashanti from April 2019 to February 2021. Prior to these roles, Mr. Chenard spent 11 years (2007-19) with Rio Tinto Aluminium as Senior Vice President, Business Development and General Counsel; and seven years at Alcan Inc., initially as Deputy Chief Legal Officer and eventually as Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Chenard’s earlier career includes serving for 11 years as Vice President, Corporate Development and General Counsel at Cambior Inc., a Canadian company with mining, development and exploration activities in various countries throughout the Americas. Mr. Chenard has conducted meaningful business all over the world in over 60 countries. Mr. Chenard graduated from McGill University with degrees in Civil Law (1982) and Common Law (1983), became a member of the Quebec Bar in 1984, and practiced corporate law in Montreal at Clarkson Tetrault (now McCarthy Tetrault) from 1984 to 1987.
